Bio

Fajar Kayani is a multidisciplinary creative based in Manchester. Her practice mainly explores the significance of everyday objects and how their origins and daily use can be used to create a portrait and/or archive of the self. Working mainly in print, collage and poetry, Fajar takes inspiration from the mundane to extract works which aim to express a sense of nostalgia, memory and personal history.

Taking this concept, Fajar has enriched her research through the facilitation of workshops and curating exhibitions across the city. She teaches both reflection and making, inviting others to explore how small, personal artefacts embed meaning in daily life.

She also works with independent businesses and institutions as a graphic designer, using her skills to design meaningful and engaging materials which can be used commercially.
